New Years Resolution II Travel Documentation

Travel restrictions keep getting tighter every year. This week please review your personal travel documentation . By this I mean your certified birth certificate, your drivers license and your passport. Everything needs to track and all should be in your legal name. Make sure your passport is valid with at least six months validity left past any return date on travel you have planned for this year. If your passport is due to expire this year or your legal name has changed and no longer matches the name on your passport now is the time to get everything in order. You can visit http://www.travel.state.gov/ which is the official website of the United States Government. Open the section pertaining to passports. You can print both forms and instructions. Children need to have passports also. You can still travel to the US Virgin Islands and cruise in the Caribbean but your options are becoming more and more limited. Do yourself and your family a favor and be ready to take advantage of all the deals that will be offered in 2009.

Today' travel tip. Are you a firefighter, teacher or either retired or active military? Carnival Cruise Lines and Holland America Cruises offer discounts on selected dates and cruise ships for all of the above. During the slower travel months they may even offer a second cabin so that you can invite friends along for the same discount.
